Long thought to be the playground of the rich and self-absorbed, cosmetic penis enlargement surgery has now in this century stepped out into the spotlight of men's health elective surgeries.

Initially of course, "cosmetic surgery" was a taboo subject and any participation in it was quickly dismissed or scorned. Actor's, actresses, polititions and CEO's routinely underwent cosmetic surgery to thwart the appearance of age upon their face. Since individuals are generally obssessed with youth and vitality, it was only a matter of time until cosmetic surgery would enter the men's room thanks to the research of penis size conducted by Master's and Johnson.

First "Penis Enlargement" Doctor

The phrase penis enlargement stepped into the verbiage of America in 1990 after a news story appeared in the Knight Rider newspaper chain. Down in Miami Florida, it seems a Dr. Ricardo Samitier had begun to inject liposuctioned fat into the penis causing it to enlarge. Of course, there was no research, no FDA approval, no publication of his surgery errors nor any patient studies to substantiate what he was doing. He continued to perform the surgical penis enlargement procedure for a few years and became so impressed with the results, he decided to utilize silicone instead of fat.

In 1993, Dr. Ricardo Samitier of "A New You, The Institute of Cosmetic Surgery," in Miami was charged with ordering and importing liquid injectable silicone from sources outside of Florida. Samitier made millions specializing in penile enlargement until one of his patients died in 1992. The 47-year-old, who had been on blood-thinning medication, died following the operation. Samitier was found guilty of manslaughter and sent to prision.

Thankfully, there has been peer-reviewed documation and research concerning male enhancement surgery as well as surgical advances in penile enlargement techniques available in most cosmetic surgeon's offices.
